Western mind sets itself up for surprise
The research adds to mounting evidence that Westerners and East Asians do not look at the world the same way... unlike Americans and other Westerners, East Asians tend to look at the big picture, taking into account more than simply the basic facts of a situation... they are more likely than Westerners to expect inconsistencies and contradictions...
Strange man in the neighborhood. really sick.
On Christmas Day four years ago, Nathaniel Bar-Jonah visited his neighbors for dinner, carrying with him a plate of spaghetti with a peculiar tasting sauce chock full of an unfamiliar kind of meat... [Bar-Jonah, a convicted pedophile] ... convinced his dinner companions that they were eating venison that he had hunted himself... an FBI encryption expert, who stumbled across a coded message among Bar-Jonah's papers earlier this year, found what authorities now believe was a kind of confession of cannibalism, Light said. According to court documents, the carefully encoded messages contained graphic phrases, including "Lunch is Served on the Patio with Roasted Child," "Roasted Kid," and "Little Boy Stew." ... a young Native American boy came forward to report that he and two of his friends had been lured to Bar-Jonah's home, where he had been assaulted, hanged him by the neck until he was barely conscious ...

Mark Nuckols: book reviews on amazon
Mumia may or may not have shot that cop in Philly - I could really care less. But if there was a death penalty for bad writing, he'd sure be a candidate for the chair...on maria shriver's "Ten Things I Wish I'd Known Before I Went Out into the Real World "
Only a silly child of a privileged American dynasty could write such dribble. Aristocratic Europeans would hestitate to so boldly offer advice on how to succeed at life when your own contribution is mostly to be spring from a blessed womb. I very much doubt that little Maria has ventured very far into the "real world," and I doubt very much that anyone could think of ten good reasons to buy this ridiculous book, unless you are a combination self-help addict and Kennedy sycophant. (Of course, I forget that many, if not most Americans fit into at least one of these pathetic categories, so that may explain why this is a best seller.)
Snowmen reinforce traditional gender stereotypes
"The snowman's location in the semi-public space of garden or field reinforces a spatial-social system marking women's sphere as the domestic-private and the men's as the commercial-public."

good day for honey:
honey may prevent recurring tumors
Dr. Tonia Young-Fadok, a Mayo Clinic surgeon participating in a U.S. study on whether laparoscopic surgery for colon cancer can cause new tumors, said substances in honey might actually help dissolve tumor cells. ``It's not clear what the power of honey is, but there's certainly something here that's of interest,'' Young-Fadok said.
honey offers relief from hangovers
Eating honey, according to the National Headache Foundation, could help you avoid hangover headaches altogether.

Web Spending Costs Moving Beyond Construction
During the past year, US businesses have significantly changed their Web-spending patterns. Gone are the days of Web spending to build an Internet presence, and in their place is spending to integrate the Internet into internal and external business processes.

space shuttle Endeavour blasts off, carrying an array of solar panels that will make the ISS (international space station) visible from earth. by december 15th, ISS will be the 3rd most visible object in the night sky - only Sirius and the Moon will be brighter. this, I'd call fairly amazing.
