happy to say that I got a job coding HTML for 'company X'(link and reference removed 09.06.01), an award winning web design firm here in pittsburgh... yay! my official capacity is production coder and interface integrator... laying out sites in HTML given a mock-up and the content.

cam has started a weblog on Understanding Mozilla:

Mozilla.org now has a page dedicated to SVG support in Mozilla. SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphics, which is a subset of XML. What this will allow is native support for vector-based graphics (like Flash) rendered directly in the browser. Once SVG support is standardized in Mozilla it will actually be possible to draw the browser's GUI using SVG, XML, CSS, and Javascript. Wow.

looking up scully's cancer in alt.x-files newsgroups.... what's the cancer that she has?

Scully's ova (or at least some of them) WERE stolen (Emily). We know that at a certain point in time Scully told her mother that she couldn't have children due to what was done to her. Details were not given.

terrence mckenna obituary

"Most of us who have been involved in the psychedelic experience wish we had the discipline and rigor of Terence McKenna," Jerry Garcia, the late lead singer and guitarist of the Grateful Dead, once said. "[He's] the only person who's made a serious effort to objectify the psychedelic experience - and done a good job of it."

netscape navigator 6.0 beta is out (for mac, pc, linux). obviously faster rendering of pages than versions up to 4.7, full support for HTML 4.0 and CSS-1 (W3C standards comparison between ie5 and net6), fonts rendered at 96 dpi by default. lots of cool features... auto page translation (to English from: Portuguese, Italian, German, Spanish, French and Japanese -- from English to: Portuguese, Italian, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese), noticed the "go to window" pop-up menu on the bottom right corner of the interface (for switching between multiple open browser windows), email client offers support for AOL accounts. (we know what browser AOL users will be running in a few months)

constructor is cool. 2-d animated wire frame models that you can play (and waste hours) with...

Constructor has been online for two years now, but three weeks ago, after Burton tweaked the user interface to improve the design, this "productivity virus," as he calls it, hit epidemic proportions, with hits on the site going from 100 to about 200,000 per day. "It's just sucking in people's time all over the world and gaining more momentum as it goes -- it's feeding off its own audience," Burton marvels. [salon article]
(noticed that netscape 6.0 renders the constructor applet way faster than 4.6, but totally screws up the applet interface)
